Going Under

Going Under - Georgia Cates This is gonna sound really lame, and I have probably mentioned it before. But when I agree to read a book sometimes a couple months will go by since I read the summary up until I actually read the book. So yeah, here I am starting the book and a little ways in I am expecting a mermaid to jump out at me at some point. Being a little dumbfounded as to why there is no mention of merpeople or even oceans I go and read the goodreads summary and realize that it is not even a supernatural/paranormal book. I feel so stupid.
{Insert good friend Hootie saying ‘Lame’ right about…NOW}

But in all honesty, I was super glad that it wasn't a mermaid book. I just finished the amazing Flukes by Nichole Chase and didn't want to give it any competition so soon. And you are probably wondering why I thought it was a mermaid book? It was the cover. Did I love the book even though there were no said merpeople? Abso-freakin-lutely!!

Yes, the book was fabulous and I found myself falling head over heels in love with both Jessie and Claire. Both come from completely different social circles but both present a side to the world that is unlike their true natures. So in a lot of ways they are the same. I know you see the bad boy character that falls for the goody goody girl character in a lot of books. But Georgia makes it different somehow. I can’t put my finger on it…maybe it’s the way she writes. She makes it a little more realistic than some of the other books out there.

One of the things I liked most, besides Jessie and Claire, is Payton. Lord help me that girl is a riot. She ALWAYS had a snarky, sarcastic comeback for EVERYTHING! Take notes people; you could learn a few things from her. I definitely look forward to reading her story in Shallow.

If you haven’t read this book…please, please give it a try. It is hilarious and swoony and downright addictive. And that ending had me smiling ear to ear. Well done, Georgia, well done.
