Ok, I loved this book. Like seriously loved this book a lot. It was refreshing to read a book that wasn't about pencil thin girls and the guys that are gaga over them. Lilly has some meat on her bones and she is at peace with it. Enough so that she even laughs at the jokes comedians make about fatty's. But she still longs for a guy that loves her for her, not for the millions she has stashed in the bank. She wants a guy to be hopelessly in love with her and would do just about anything for her. Sadly, no one has come riding in on a white horse offering their love and affection. And the only action she seems to be getting is a threesome between her, Ben, and Jerry. Ice cream people!! Get those minds out of the gutters.
But yeah, loved everything about this book. I was craving it when I had to put it down and was eager to pick it back up. I adored the flip out of Devin and was glad to see that Lilly changed him for the better. When we are first introduced to him we see a guy with walls up to protect him from the image he has about women. He thinks all women love and leave you all thanks to his mom leaving them years ago. But when he begins fake dating Lilly, we slowly see her chip away the walls he has placed up around his heart. And soon the real Devin emerges...a guy who has a caring, loving heart. This Devin is way better than man whore Devin.
Then we have Lilly!! Sweet, beautiful, and yes, chunky Lilly. This gal rocked! I loved seeing her confidence rise as the relationship grew. She is not your average skinny girl you read in so many books now days. And I absolutely love that. I am no longer the 95lb girl I was when hubs married me. And thankfully he loves me just the same. But to know there are books out there that give us gals someone we can relate to is just flippin awesome. I have only read one other book about girls on the plus side of life and it gave me a need to read more like it. And thankfully Vargo took the torch and ran with it.
I most definitely recommend this book. ON THE PLUS SIDE is absolutely amazing and fun to read. My only hang up was that the end came a little too quick for me. Lilly should have made him work for it. But when I read the epilogue I was good. I look forward to more books in the Chubby Girl Chronicles.
