First of all this book needs to be a movie, like yesterday. Preferably on Lifetime because let’s face it, they make awesome-feel good-tearjerker movies. And this book is that. The author is so vivid in her writing you actually feel as though it’s a movie being played out in your imagination. And even not knowing a thing (zip, zero, nada) about skating...I was actually able to follow along and not feel lost.
In Life on the Edge you can tell Comeaux is passionate about skating and writing. I loved hearing about the competitions and actually want to watch more now. Funny how a book can get you excited about something you never thought of before. Of course I watched as a child but now I have a renewed interest. And Comeaux’s writing flows flawlessly throughout the entire book. So easy to read and never a dull moment. Even when the pair is practicing or out to dinner with family, I was never bored.
I enjoyed the characters in Life on the Edge quite a bit. The author did a fabulous job making them real and easily relatable. We get the whole story through Emily’s eyes and how she was affected through it all. She is a strong girl with a huge heart; you can’t help but love her. And Sergei, oh sweet Russian Sergei! Yep, loved him from the start. He is smart, caring, and very, very romantic. Swoon away ladies!
I am so thankful for a chance to read this book and I loved every bit of it. Full of romance and a fight to be with the one you love, Life on the Edge delivers one fantastic story. Well done Comeaux on an amazing debut novel…now when can we expect another book from you?
