The story starts off with Nara calling to tip the police off to a bomb threat at her school. Nora knows about the threat because she dreamed it the night before. Every night Nara dreams the next day, helping her out in soccer and school work. And life is good until she thwarts the bomb plot and then the dreams just stop. Then Ethan, the new kid who is a loner, enters her life. As Ethan and Nara's relationship starts to grow, Nara learns that Ethan knows her secret. But Ethan has a troubled past and secrets of his own. As kids from their school start getting harmed, Nara and Ethan must put their heads together to stand up to Fate.
Loved seeing the growing relationship between Nara and Ethan. So many books today have 2 characters so in love by the time they are say hello, you are left scratching your head. I enjoyed the fact the author took her time to let the characters develop something, making it feel more real. Ethan is definitely swoon worthy. I understand that with me saying this about a teen boy, it makes me a cougar. Well guess what? RAWR! Because I just loved him.
The story is similar to the Final Destination movies, which I cannot watch because they scare me to much. But Brightest Kind of Darkness was much easier for me to handle and I was sucked in from the beginning. The storyline was so intense and interesting, I was never bored. I don't want to say much more about the plot in fear of giving too much away, but there are twists that even Nara didn’t see coming. This book ranks in the top 10 of one of my favorite YA reads this summer, and I am excited for the next book. Truly entertaining and romantic!
